China's Fixed Broadband And 4G Network Download Rates Both Break 20Mbps

On July 26, the Broadband Development Alliance released the 20th China Broadband Rate Status Report (second quarter of 2018). After the fixed-band download rate in China exceeded 20 Mbps in the first quarter of 2018, the download rate of 4G networks in the second quarter also exceeded 20 Mbps.

The report shows that in the second quarter of 2018, the average download rate of China's fixed broadband network reached 21.31 Mbps, an increase of 51.0% compared with the same period of last year; the average download rate of China's mobile broadband users using the 4G network to access the Internet reached 20.22 Mbps. , an increase of 50.2% compared with the same period last year.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the construction and transformation of China's optical fiber network has been continuously advanced. The 4G network has accelerated coverage of urban and rural areas, and the development level of broadband network infrastructure has rapidly improved. As of June 2018, the total number of fixed broadband access users accounted for 86.8%, ranking first in the world; the fixed broadband access users with access rates of 100Mbps and above accounted for 53.3. %. The total number of 3G/4G base stations is 74.9%, and the total number of 4G users has accounted for 73.5% of mobile phone users.

In terms of fixed broadband download rate, Shanghai and Beijing ranked the top two in the country, both exceeding 24Mbps. The other eight cities are Jinan, Hangzhou, Shenyang, Haikou, Zhengzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing and Wuhan.
